These sets of materials are designed to be copied and put to work right away in your classroom. Each set—there are 6, plus a depth and complexity set for a learning center—directs independent study in a different way. Some sets are for older students, some for younger ones, and there’s a set for limited or “not-yet-readers.” Some sets focus on depth and complexity, others focus on research skills or a thematic approach. There’s a full complement of introductory material on the underlying rationale for independent study, how and when it can take place, and how standards are related.
